SYNOPSIS

Illusione, the film directed by Francesca Archibugi, takes place on the outskirts of Perugia, where a young girl is found unconscious in a ditch. She's wearing a haute couture dress, beautiful, and seemingly dead.
But just as the police are about to remove the body, a sigh reveals that she's still alive. Her name is Rosa Lazar (Angelina Andrei), she's Moldovan, and she's under sixteen. The case is entrusted to Deputy Prosecutor Cristina Camponeschi (Jasmine Trinca), engaged in a complex investigation involving a vast child prostitution ring with links to Eastern Europe and perhaps to the highest levels of the European Parliament. At her side is psychologist Stefano Mangiaboschi (Michele Riondino), tasked with assessing the young girl's mental state.
But the investigation becomes complicated. Rosa appears completely unaware of the abuse she's suffered, expresses herself with a disturbing cheerfulness, and defies definition. She's neither a normal victim nor a simple witness. Behind her enigmatic smile lies a profound trauma and a difficult-to-decipher identity. For Cristina, Rosa is the key to dark scenarios and high-level corruption. For Stefano, she becomes a mystery to be unraveled, an inner investigation that will lead him to confront the limits of care, justice, and truth.
