ISCHIA ISLAND “VINCENZO BUONO” MUSIC FESTIVAL

Among this year’s participants, as always, will be the Vincenzo Buono Permanent Choir of the Anna Baldino Comprehensive School.

Like our Festival, the choir takes its name from our late namesake Maestro.

The Vincenzo Buono Permanent Choir was established in 2023 by the music teachers of the Anna Baldino Comprehensive School in Barano d’Ischia, encouraged by Principal Valeria Scotto di Fasano. It brings together musical talents ranging from fifth-grade primary school students to third-year students of lower secondary school, as well as former students of the school who continue to be part of the choir with enthusiasm. This diverse composition celebrates differences and fosters an environment based on inclusion, friendship and mutual respect.

In addition to concerts and events across the island, the choir has taken part in several school competitions, including competitions outside the Campania region, achieving excellent results.

Despite its young age, the choir boasts a broad and varied repertoire, including both classical pieces and modern Neapolitan songs such as “Luna Rossa”, “O’ Sarracino”, “Malafemmena” and “Napul’è”.

Its musical journey also extends to different repertoires and languages: from the medieval Latin of Carmina Burana to the famous songs of ABBA in English, as well as some unforgettable Disney classics. Always open to collaboration with musical groups and orchestras active in the area, the choir has had the opportunity to perform alongside the Orchestra Verticale Territoriale and the Banda Musicale Città di Ischia.

In particular, with the latter, it has developed a strong relationship of collaboration and mutual support over time, strengthening year after year a now well-established partnership.

At Piazzale delle Alghe, performances by the Monte San Giovanni in Sabina Philharmonic Society, the "Giuseppe Verdi" Musical Band – Lisciano, the "Aurora" Musical Band of the City of Panza, and the City of Ischia Musical Band, with the participation of the "Vincenzo Buono" Permanent Choir of the "Anna Baldino" Comprehensive Institute – Barano d'Ischia and Serrara Fontana.
